Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in the fields of film, television and the theatre. Her most well-known role is Teri Joe, a fiery lawyer on the Showtime show Soul Food. She is now known by her husband's name, Nikki Kodjoe. Growing up within Baltimore, Maryland, she was always intrigued by acting. When she participated in the Maryland high school contest during her first years of education she received the award for the best actress. She earned her acting degree from the New York University after working at 'The Washington Ballet Company' as well as in theatre. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was her debut major role. Then came movies like 'Boogie Nights Spark & Blue Streak. Her praise was for her performance in Soul Food. Contractor, who was born in Mumbai and lived in Nigeria during seven years, was awash with trips and experiences in the world of culture at an early age. She was educated in an boarding school in London between the ages of 7 and 9. Her family later moved away from London in Toronto, Canada. Contractor trained in classical ballet in Toronto. In 2002, Canadian critics praised her performance in 92 performances of the play. She was given the chance to be a part of the Stratford Conservatory, which allows only eight males and four women to study classical theatre. Contractor was eager to accept.
